to the 5th EATI Regional Theatre Festival Addis Ababa,

One of the most important activities of the Eastern Africa Theatre Institute is the biannual
theatre festival which is normally held once after every two years. So far EATI has already conducted four festivals,
in Ethiopia (2000), Uganda (2002), Kenya (2004) and Tanzania (2006). In November this year again it will be in Ethiopia,
from 22th to 27th November 2008.

parts of Africa and the world to share their artistic experiences,
ideas, skills and techniques with Eastern African Theatre

Eastern Africa with other artists from the rest of Africa
and the world.

Opening
Ceremony
Join the performing arts “gurus” of the region
and witness the award giving ceremony
to outstanding artists.
This is among the fascinating events of the festival,
there will be procession
From City Hall to National theatre through Churchill Road,speech
by the Guest of honour and later great performances. Then
followed by lots of great performances from the region.
Exhibitions
Don’t you ever miss to buy Ethiopian artifacts
and there will be alot traditional artfacts dispalys as
well as EATI projects materials and activities.
Performances
Each chapter will bring two performing groups,and there
will be four plays from each chapter produced by alumni
playwriters, there would plays from sweden and Ethiopian
groups.
Seminars,Workshops,Symposium and Meetings.
There would be round table discussions about the theme
as well as workshops on different theatre genre.

Ethiopia,
Kenya, Sweden, Tanzania and Uganda.
Venues
The main festival venue will be the National Theatre
of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa. Others will be The city hall
theatre, Hager Fiker Theatre, cultural centers, Academic
institutions such as Addis Ababa University.
Festival accommodation
Good Hotels, rest houses, hostels and guest houses have
been booked for you and are available in affordable cost.
Visas
Participants who need visa should obtain entry visa before
commencing their journey to Ethiopia. Those with problems
should contact the Festival Committee for assistance.
